Well, I wouldn’t call my disregard of Flat Earthers an error because while there are indeed some knuckleheads who think Earth is flat, to acquiesce to their views is to give their views legitimacy and to say that a discussion about a flat Earth is a worthwhile discussion. It is not, of course.

As for the existence of the universe, I doubt that I’m a brain in a vat or that we’re living in a computerized matrix.

Yes, religious beliefs are based on faith. One doesn’t know that Heaven exists; people simply believe that it does, have faith that it does. One doesn’t know that humans have an ethereal “thing” (a “soul”) in them that whooshes out of the body at death; people simply believe that it does, have faith that it does. And so on. To quote Mark Twain, “Faith is believing what you know ain’t so.” Exactly. This is why I find religious faith empty and silly (and fun to mock). Really, now: There are millions of people who believe in the existence of invisible winged humanoids — otherwise known as “angels.” Oh, and there’s supposed to be this one veeery naughty angel in particular called “Satan”! Oh, gee. I’m scared now!

Lives in New York City, owns too many books and CDs. But then again, there's no such thing as "too many" books and CDs.
