To be clear, my friend did use Final Cut for years until the releases that came after FCP 7. That's when he jumped ship and moved to Avid and Premiere. He may be right for his needs, but if he thinks everybody is stupid for jumping ship and moving to Premiere after FCPX, then he is certainly in the minority. If he wants to compare work experience, reel content, and longevity, I’d be happy to do so.
Editors are very picky as to how they work. It’s not about anything but the quality of their work. For example, there are people who kept with various Avid versions not because it was better but because they were just more comfortable that way.
