That's a fair point. I forgot about the start of the Last Crusade. I guess CGI is the easy way out now for almost all filmmakers. I, too, liked Spider-Man from 2002, but you might want to look up that review anyway to see how prescient O'Brien was. A snippet: "The paradox of digital effects is that the more they look the less real they feel; the most primitive models and painted backdrops of the early silent era convey far more of a sense of events occurring in actual space. And thus far more possibility of emotional consequence."
