One way to combat ageism is to simply pay attention to what's going on today, culturally speaking. For example, I recently came across a new singer-songwriter named Ethel Cain. Her songs are moody and gloomy and Gothic-tinged. I like her sound. My point here is that instead of saying "Back in my day I listened to..." or "When I was young...", stay hip, in whatever way you define that word, to what's going on now!
