Many people really do believe in the nonsense of “holy” water or some Evil Angel that people call “Satan.” People really believe in the existence of “Heaven” and “Hell.” People really believe there’s an invisible ethereal entity in each of our bodies and that at death this entity (“the soul”) whooshes out from the corpse and heads straight to a Good Place or a Bad Place. If demonstrating, by argument, that these and other ideas are as crackpot and loony (and embarrassing) as they most certainly are, well, then I do “gotcha”: that is, believers are unable to rebut any of the things I raised in any persuasive fashion. Come on, Brian. Millions of people really do believe in the existence of invisible winged humanoids (“angels”). That’s crazy, right? Right. I knew you would agree.

As always, atheists have the better arguments. We always have and always will. “Wow, Barry. That’s quite an arrogant statement!” Yes, it is. There’s one major caveat, of course: If believers were to come up with any evidence for the things they believe — that a supposed Lovey Dovey Being created the universe, that said Being has an inexplicable nemesis (which, by the way, shows that this Being is impotent), etc.— I will immediately alter my views and admit that I was wrong. I can guarantee that.
